Elliptical Machines under $800:
You can find ellipticals in this price range in spare bedrooms across millions of homes throughout the world before being liquidated at the local garage sale.
We don’t want to condemn this category with a broad stroke of negativity but few elliptical trainers under $500..actually under $800 is worth the investment. Because of the inferior components many of these budget friendly elliptical machines after consistent use wear out and often unsafe since they’re not ergonomically designed.
Also, cheaper elliptical treadmills can be a pretty rough ride compared to what you can get for $1,000. Stepping distance is restrictive and in the end not fun for everyone.
Expect to use customer support but don’t expect much on warranty. It’s best to spend a little more for a better work out experience that will offer less problems for everyone long term.
Best Elliptical Machines between $800-1,200:
Elliptical equipment on the low end of this range are limited in features like pulse features, workout programs, and often feel stiff or difficult to use. Squeaks and creaks are common concerns or annoyances may be an issue over years and years of use…
However, a few machines here can be good for at least starting you towards your quest of improved cardio and health without spending a bunch of money up front.
Best Elliptical Machines between $1,200-2,200:
This is the most popular price range for ellipticals. Reviews seem to indicate that you won’t find the best elliptical machine in this price range; however, many of the best companies that make ellipticals will offer their low to mid grade models in this price point.
Under $1,000 and you start to get ‘mom-n-pop’ machines that just aren’t functional or fun to ride.
Best Elliptical Machines between $2,200-3,000:
Many of the best elliptical and fitness machine companies like Smooth Fitness, Life Fitness, Bowflex,
Precor, or Yowza will offer some of their better performing ‘mid-grade’ residential elliptical machines.
You can expect a minimum 2 year warranty on core components such as the frame, drive motor, electronics, belts, rollers, and labor. Yowza fitness goes as high as a 5 year warranty and some of the best bowflex machines offer great support and warranties as well.
You can expect a smooth riding experience for any stride length and ergonomic design so you’re not leaning on the hand rails for balance. In addition you’ll get helpful added features that keep you entertained and motivated.
Best Elliptical Machines over $3,000:
This price point will truly get you the ‘best elliptical machine’. Many of the top end companies will introduce their commercial elliptical models or at least a semi-commercial grade elliptical at this price point.
You can go to your local gym and start getting a feel for high-end elliptical machines and what to expect at this price point. These machines are made for a lot of wear and tear.
However, be really skeptical about buying used or refurbished models at this price point. It’s hard to predict what you’re getting and they can give you a workout in more ways than one. This is especially true if you don’t have experience with paying for parts and labor.
